KATHMANDU: A meeting was held between UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal and Sadbhawana Party Chairman Rajendra Mahato at the former’s residence in Lazimpat, Kathmandu, on Saturday.
On the occasion, Chairman Dahal urged Madheshi leader Mahat to come on board for holding a meaningful talk which would help to settle Tarai unrest.
Some Madhesh-centric political parties, forming an alliance-United Democratic Madheshi Front, have been in protest of new constitution, stating that it does not reflect their interest.
During the meeting, leader Dahal, also the coordinator of the high-level political mechanism, made leader Mahato aware that the most disputed issues like delineation of federal provinces could be revised.
The former Prime Minister also appealed to leader Mahato to create an environment conducive for the same, according to a press statement released by leader Dahal’s Secretariat.
Various rounds of meetings and consultations have been taking place between the high-level political mechanism and the agitating Madheshi leaders lately, aiming to address the Tarai unrest as the earliest, the press release stated.
Mahato, responding to Dahal in a positive note, said that they were ready to sit for talks with the government in an attempt to put an end to the protest programs, which leader Mahato admitted to have troubled fellow countrymen.
Leader Mahato, who is also the former Minister for Commerce Supply, requested Chairman Dahal to help create a positive environment to hold talks with the government, stated the press statement
